Initially, gunpowder No. 140 was developed for the 7.62 x 53 R cartridge, which was actively used by the Finnish army in the early years of its production. No. 140 is still one of the most popular propellants.
Smokeless powder No. 140 is a tubular powder with a grain size of 1.0 mm in length and 0.9 mm in diameter. The structure, grain geometry and graphite coating make it perform excellently in all rifle systems. Gunpowder # 140 burns at medium speed on our gunpowder scale, making it a versatile hand gunpowder for both small game hunting and sport shooting.
If your goal is to achieve the highest possible starting speed, then No. 140 is not the best choice. However, the No. 140 is by far the leader if you want maximum accuracy.
